Kiera was only eight when she was diagnosed with a brain stem tumour. With a single phone call from her paediatrician, Kiera’s life changed forever.
For young people like Kiera, life after a cancer diagnosis can be extremely isolating, where they feel helpless and like no one understands their unique struggles.
That’s why our counselling services are vital in supporting young people aged 12-25 experiencing cancer. These face-to-face services provide comfort and security for patients to connect with a professional, where they can learn skills to cope with their diagnosis and rebuild their confidence.
We need your help to ensure Canteen’s counselling service can remain accessible for all young people living with cancer. Please donate now. A gift to Canteen helps young Aussies like Kiera have our support every step of the way.
Will you help young people stand up to cancer?
Founded by a group of cancer patients in 1985, Canteen has been helping young Australians aged 12–25 stand up to cancer for over 30 years. Canteen supports young cancer patients, young people struggling with the grief of losing a loved one, or young people who have a sibling or parent with cancer.
